Eye to Eye and Face to Face with the Hero of their Youth

Kiel- “Iīve been waiting 25 years for this concert” says Michael Labella with a beaming face.  He just saw the ex-Supertramp frontman Roger Hodgson on the NDR 2 stage.  And because he is one in a group of ten who won the NDR Meet and Greet campaign, he was able to watch the vocal artist from the VIP area.

“I always loved his voice since my youth and I still love it today,” says Labella, who unfortunately missed the last concert of the band in the early 80īs.  Since then Hodgson tours alone, but still performs the Supertramp classics like “School” or “Dreamer,” which he still presents so well on the Kieler Woche, as if he had wrote them just recently.

“Itīs amazing how high he can still sing at his age,” Rolf Ackermann says gladly.  Heīs another long time Supertramp fan, standing backstage in front of the tent, in which the star gives another interview for the NDR. The ten fans not only won free tickets to the show, but also a Meet and Greet with the vocal artist.  And now the moment has come that Hodgson is ready to receive his guests.  He doesnīt sign autographs at this late hour, but he puts his arm around every single fan for a photo and says a few words to everyone.  “He told me he saw me in the audience during the concert and recognized how happy I was,” says Martina Bliese, delighted.  The best thing about him is his genuineness and his honesty.  “And he creates real good-mood-music."
