Supertramp fans realizing they are
actually Roger Hodgson fans
“All these years I thought I was a Supertramp fan only to discover that I am, in fact, first and foremost, a Roger Hodgson fan. The second Roger Hodgson opened his voice, I said ‘that’s Supertramp.’ He is Supertramp. His is the voice that spoke to me as a young man, and speaks to me even more powerfully all these years later. What a show! WOW is all I can say.”
David Wild, Contributing editor, Rolling Stone
“I have always been a huge Supertramp fan. I am no longer going to say
‘Oh, that’s Supertramp,’ I am now going to say “that’s Roger Hodgson and Supertramp.’”
Radio Time – The Michael Smerconish Program
“The power of the music was indisputable with many of the audience in tears of joy at the memories and emotions the songs evoked. It was like seeing Supertramp back in their heyday.”
Evening Herald
“While some former lead singers of bands seem content to surround themselves with musicians that will not draw attention away from them, Hodgson has one of the most impressive backing bands around. In some ways, they are even better than his former band mates in Supertramp.”
Thom Jennings - Niagara Gazette
“Roger Hodgson is proving that he indeed was the golden voice of Supertramp.”
Scott Smith – Real Rock News
“Roger's voice is even
better than it was when he
was with Supertramp. My
friends and I were blown
away by the sheer talent
Roger has. I would highly
recommend anyone to go see
Roger live if they can.”
Daniel Knighton, Examiner
“If
you closed your eyes you’d
have thought Supertramp were
back on stage.”
Madeleine Brown - Rhythms Magazine
“Going to see Supertramp without Roger Hodgson is like going to see the Rolling Stones without Jagger or U2 without Bono."
Klemens Riegler
- Dolomiten-Magazin
“Roger is more than a Supertramp. His songs haven’t left the radio waves and they’re still played around the World.”
Don Wilcock, Entertainment
“Roger Hodgson was incredible in Supertramp and he is even better now on his own. I must say, Roger Hodgson is Supertramp, it’s not the other way around.”
“Roger Hodgson is truly the voice of Supertramp - he’s the real deal. The current Supertramp sounds like a cover band.”
“It’s rare to see anyone come back and top their songs 30 years later. Roger, my friend, you have done it!”
“There is no doubt in my mind that Supertramp without Roger Hodgson is really not Supertramp at all. I would rather experience a concert with real heart and soul and that is what Roger Hodgson delivers in his concerts.“
“The name Roger Hodgson may
not be familiar to some, but
his voice will be. His songs
have filled the airwaves for
over three decades, with his
former band Supertramp. During
the evening, Roger had
spoken about the healing
effect of music and of
forgetting your troubles for
an hour or two, and that is
exactly what happened to the
audience. For any difficult
times in your life, you
should be able to get a show
like the one Roger Hodgson
gave us – on prescription!”
“Almost nobody is indifferent to the sound of Supertramp but it is also true that people often did not associate the name Roger Hodgson. But after tonight, Roger Hodgson will be the reference for Supertramp.”
“Roger's voice, thirty-odd years on from Supertramp's big hits, was virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings; his playing was perfect, and his band equally so.”
“For those who love Supertramp you will love Roger Hodgson. Sit back close your eyes and listen to the music. The full orchestra and choir provide live music equal to the original recordings. Roger provides an up close and interactive look into his life and music as he regularly talks about where his music came from and what it has meant to him and his fans. Whatever the cost go see Roger Hodgson, the entertainment is worth every penny.”
“This was the first time i ever saw Roger perform but i have to say I don`t miss Supertramp......But thank GOD there will always be Roger!!!!!”
“Way to go Roger----BRAVO!!!! Having seen Rick Davies a few years ago and I found that some thing was missing, well I just found it. It was Roger who should have kept the Supertramp name and logo.”
“I have never seen Supertramp in concert but after seeing Roger perform, it has left me with an unforgettable feeling of a Supertramp concert with a personal touch added in”
“The show was awesome...I didn't know what to expect. I kinda wanted to hear Supertramp really...and thought this might be a let down. But surprisingly he was great....and as much as a Supertramp concert would have been awesome...Roger knocked it out of the park all by himself...and with some great musicians backing him too.”
“After seeing Roger live, no-one can even come close to his talent! These are "ROGER'S" songs, only he can sing them!!! There is NO SUPERTRAMP without Roger!”
“Roger Hodgson was the better part of Supertramp and that song can only be with Rogers voice. With Roger : Supertramp. Without : tramp.”
“its very simple ROGER WAS SUPERTRAMP”
“I had heard Supertramp on the radio, who knows how many times, growing up.Then one day the tune from Logical popped into my head. My girlfriend (at the time) and I used to do what I like to call musical archaeology, digging up old songs and discovering new ones. We went to work searching the web and found it. When I listened to it it's like I was hearing it for the 1st time, like I was hearing with new ears. It spoke to me on a more profound level, it struck a cord deep in me. Ever since I've been learning more about Roger and the band. I like what I'm seeing. Roger is a unique artist, he has a special insight that comes through in his music, Something ....Kinda Magical.”
“Anyone can play the music, but no one else has the voice. Roger Hodgson is Supertramp. Supertramp is Roger. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Love Stories
“Hodgson’s feel-good vibe jumped
even higher as he invited two fans
onto the stage. The male fan held a
microphone and described the other
fan, his girlfriend, before bending
one knee and proposing marriage.
When the woman offered an
enthusiastic “yes,” Hodgson then
hugged the couple and wished them
decades of happiness. Several times
during his performance Hodgson took
time to remind all in attendance how
important love was and how he hoped
his music would bring back special
memories for his fans. He even gave
up center stage to allow a man to
propose marriage to his girlfriend –
luckily for all involved she said
“Yes!”
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, Oklahoma February 28, 2012
"Saw you perform last night in Adelaide and Wow!!!!!. As a huge Supertramp fan you bought the memories flooding back of my courtship days of my wife in the mid 70s. THE BEST concerts of my life. This concert I would rate 11 out of 10”
“My first album played on my car stereo when I turned 17, my first love, my wedding, my first child's birth, thank you for the gift of your music and the wonderful memories I still get when I hear it or play it. Your music is food for my ears, your music is poetry that speaks to us individually.”
“"When you look through the years at what you could have been, oh what you might have been, if you had had more time." These words from the opening song Take The Long Way Home resonated deeply with the crowd. But none more deeply than with Anaheim resident John McEntee. After contemplating these lyrics in 1979 decided that he wasn't going to wait until it was too late, he went right out and proposed to the woman who would become his wife of 31 years, Monica. Together they have raised three children, who in turn have given them three grandchildren.”
“Heidi and I celebrated our 23rd
wedding anniversary 2/25/2012 and
Roger's song “Two Of Us” has such
special meaning to our relationship.
We chose Two Of Us as one of our
dance songs at our reception because
of the depth of feelings in the
music and strength of the lyrics.”
“Being only 19, my sisters and I have grown up listening to your music through our mum and dad. Your songs have brought my family so close together and I am forever grateful to you for that.”
“His music flows straight from his heart and soul into my heart and soul -- no detours, no boundaries. Roger's music is the music of my life.”
Inspiring Stories
“Roger Hodgson’s Music Helped Me Through Life.”
“Roger’s music pulled me back from the abyss in my darkest hours, it's never betrayed me, it's always touched deep inside and given me hope and strength, it's been in my heart since we "met", it's been the theme of my life, and its been my closest friend. AND, Roger's music helped me court and win my wife!”
“My mother, Vicky was a lifelong fan of your music. Sadly, she lost her battle to cancer 14 years ago at the age of 56. Throughout her life, and during the time of her disease, she often turned to your music to escape the pain and fear or hurt of what she was going through. I would sit back and watch as she would sing to Hide in Your Shell, Two of Us, Lord is it Mine, you name it. Her spirits were always immediately lifted and for those moments Roger I thank you. I thank you for bringing light and love and hope...and peace to her”
“Life brings us very great hardships that must be overcome again and again. I have before me a new huge challenge, very painful. Again, I'm hanging onto your music. It leads me to the depth, allows me to see the light, even if sometimes I struggle to see it. Your deep melodic music caresses my soul when I feel desperate. You have brought me an emotional and spiritual food in this prison that has no end... I wanted to thank you again. Your music has the power to break the bars.”
“My twin brother died a month ago and when you played 'Two of us", I just broke down…my emotions took over and I danced and sang the whole night just like we did way back when.”
“I was a typical teenager being pulled in a hundred different directions. Some of them frightening and lonely. Hide in Your Shell spoke directly to my heart. It told me I wasn't alone and that any good that would come of my life would be a direct result of me summoning up my courage and living true to the values and principals I felt. "I, as a boy, I believed the saying the cure for pain was love. How would it be if you could see the world through my eyes?" struck me as Shakespeare. Thirty plus years down the road now. I've become a deeply spiritual person. Words to a boy are now a creed for a man. God and love and a life trying to live by their lights is what I've become. Nobody, not even George Harrison, put his soul into his music the way Roger does. We are so very lucky to have him.”
“When I was in my late twenties I wanted to commit suicide. But your song, Had A Dream showed me what I needed to get through it. I wanted to live but I wanted to die. I understand what it meant now, I'm just happy I encountered your music before I made a fatal mistake. Thanks again!”
“Mr. Hodgson, I just want to thank you for all your wonderful music. I been listening to your music for many years and each song has a very special meaning in my life....your music as indeed helped me along life's pathway and yet continues to guide, strengthens and encourages me to continue on no matter the struggles or fears that i may be facing. Thank you and God bless you.”
“My first Supertramp album was Crime of the century and then Even in the quietest moments. I loved both of them as a teen. The music meant so much to me. Your spiritual influence really touched me. I've moved 12 times in my life and every time I have moved to a new place, I would play the album even in the quietest moments over and over again as I set up and un packed. I would be listening to it as I put all my things into place at the new home. The music seemed to comfort me and center me. Last year I had a real bought with depression when I lost me job. I sunk lower than I even care to remember. When I finally did find work. I commuted everyday with Even in the quietest moments. Six weeks, both to work and home with the album. Then that job ended and I got a new job. I still commute in the car with your album everyday. Out of all the great music I listen to, Even in the quietest moments is the closest to my heart. Thank you.”
“When i was a kid Crime of the Century was my first obsession at our house we listened to a lot of Supertramp over and over and over again and still today it doesn't get old. I am listening to Lord is it mine right now. My family have a lot of great memories listening to your music when my mom was alive and well. She passed away over a year ago from cancer. When someone close to you passes a lot of memories and music of the passed comes back. Like you say music is very powerful. Now my kids listen to your music with me just like when i was with my mom. I really think it's amazing. Your not a dreamer anymore but i am !!”
“His songs have seen me through many of life's curves. Roger puts into words and music, to what our soul is humming to us..... Thanks for your great input into my life.”
“Roger, I wish you knew how much that organ and your music has changed my life. I got into your sounds as a teenager and it inspired me to learn guitar and piano and that kept me off the streets and kept me out of a lot of trouble. Thank you for being a positive influence on my life and I wish you all the best!”
I'm a Roger Hodgson Fanatic!

“ROGER, you are like a FINE WINE, you just keep getting better with age.”
