Le Kursaal, quelle salle ! Et quel public ! De l'avis d'Anna Vadillo, de Get in, qui a fait venir le chanteur mythique et parolier des tubes de Supertramp à San Sé, le public n'a jamais été aussi chaud ! Dès "Take the long way home", en ouverture à 21h03, la salle est chaude bouillante. Un public de quadra quinqua venu pour célébrer leur idole, le "faiseur de tubes" de Supertramp.



Et Roger Hodgson, accompagné de son band au complet, quatre musiciens de très haut niveau -sans guitare électrique- estampillé made in California, a aligné tous les titres phares des "clochards": "Breakfast in America", "The Logical Song", "It's Raining Again", "Hide in Your shell", "Don't Leave Me Now", "Give a Little bit" et "Dreamer" (en rappel).



Roger Hodgson, 64 ans, c'est bien sûr la voix de Supertramp mais c'est aussi un superbe arrangeur. Les morceaux, entre rock et rock progressif, magnifiquement éclairés sur cette scène minimaliste, sont réorchestrés de manière mélodique et les arrangements sont précis autour des synthés, et d'un excellent batteur qui donne le tempo. "Death and the zoo" de son album plus pop "Open the door" est monstrueux. Mention aussi à "Lord is it mine". Mister Roger, de sa voix reconnaissable entre tous, est, lui, tantôt aux synthés, au piano ou à la guitare. Le son est super propre, magnifié par l'excellence du Kursaal, véritable auditorium puisque c'est d'abord et surtout une salle de musique classique, qui possède une acoustique incomparable.



A la fin du show, dans sa loge, Roger Hodgson nous confiera sa joie d'avoir joué dans cette salle devant un public aux anges: "Le son était bon, non? Vous avez aimé ! Je suis content de l'accueil que je reçois ici, c'est toujours fantastique. C'était pareil à Madrid la veille. Et ce sera tout aussi chaleureux à Paris bientôt..." Roger se souvenait que la dernière qu'il était venu à San Sé, c'était le 29 juin 2008: "C'était la finale de l'Euro de football et l'Espagne avait gagné je crois, on avait interrompu le show plusieurs fois pour regarder la télé!"

Abordable, adorable, le Britannique, qui vit désormais en Californie, où il retournait après un concert samedi soir en Andorre, et avant de revenir en France notamment à l'Olympia, le 22 juin, a passé un long moment avec des invités et fans à poser pour des photos ou signer des autographes. La marque des grands artistes, généreux et simples, like Roger.
