“ROGER HODGSON SE VENGO DE LA LLUVIA Y TRIUNFO EN CAP ROIG”

Roger Hodgson, cantante y compositor de la mítica banda Supertramp, no pudo actuar el año pasado en el festival de Cap Roig por culpa de la lluvia. Ayer, en cambio, en el verano más lluvioso que se recuerda en los últimos tiempos, las nubes hicieron un descanso y fue el mítico músico británico quien provoco una inundación, pero de nostalgia, en el escenario del festival de Calella de Palafrugell, prácticamente lleno para la ocasión.
Acompañado de una banda de cuatro músicos, un Hodgson muy comunicativo y simpático se dedicó, con la solvencia que le caracteriza, a ofrecerle al público un repertorio que combinó composiciones clásicas de Supertramp con otras creadas después de que, a mediados de los años 80, iniciase su carrera en solitario.
Así, en Cap Roig se pudieron escuchar temas que son auténticos himnos generacionales como "Dreamer", "It´s raining again", "Give a little bit", "The logical song", "Breakfast in America" y "Take the long way home", junto a otros más recientes que, a pesar de no ser tan conocidos y por tanto no ser recibidos con tanto entusiasmo por los espectadores, reflejaron muy bien la apuesta musical del artista británico.
La implicación del público (entre el que se encontraban el portavoz de CiU en Madrid, Josep Antoni Duran Lleida, el tenista Tommy Robredo y José Antich, director de “La Vanguardia”) con la propuesta musical de Hodgson se pudo comprobar durante todo el recital. Muchos de los asistentes eran incapaces de seguir la interpretación de las canciones sin emocionarse, y al final sus fans se despidieron del músico en pie con una ovación intensísima.

Roger Hodgson, singer and songwriter of the mythical band Supertramp, was not able to play last year at Cap Roig because of the rain. However, yesterday, in the most rainy summer of the century, the clouds went away and it was the legendary British musician who caused floods, nostalgic floods, at the festival in Calella de Palafrugell, which was almost sold-out.
Accompanied by a four-piece band, a very communicative and nice Hodgson offered to the audience, with his usual skill, a set-list that mixed together Supertramp classics with other compositions he wrote after pursuing his solo career in the mid 80s.
So, at Cap Roig the people could hear songs that are real generational anthems like "Dreamer", "It´s raining again", "Give a little bit", "The logical song", "Breakfast in America" and "Take the long way home", along with some more recent pieces that, although are not so famous and were not so enthusiastically received, reflected Hodgson’s music very well.
The involvement of the audience (including politicians like the spokesman of CiU in Madrid, Josep Antoni Duran Lleida, tennis players like Tommy Robredo and newspaper editors like Jose Antich) with the music by Hodgson was great all along the concert. Many of the spectators were unable to hear the songs without being moved, and at the end of the show the people said goodbye to the musician with a long standing ovation.
