Hi Everyone,
We’re just starting our last leg of Roger's touring for 2009 and we thought we would take a moment to express how amazing it has been to look out upon Roger's audience each night and see fans of every generation, of so many different cultures, all being brought together and unified by his music. It never ceases to touch our hearts to witness so many people reliving their memories with the music, and couples and families singing together creating new ones. And it has been wonderful meeting so many of you.
So many fans have written to us how much they enjoy reading Roger’s guestbook and all the beautiful letters that are sent to him ( Roger really enjoys them also! :)). For those of you who haven’t written, please don’t be shy, post a message. And for those of you that have written but haven’t spent time reading the guestbook, may we suggest you take some time with a nice cup of tea, sit back, listen to Roger’s music and enjoy some of the beautiful writings.
Roger has often said that the most meaningful thing for him as an artist is to hear how his songs have helped someone through a difficult period in their life or helped bring joy and happiness, inspiration and hope or have just created that feel good quality in their heart and soul. This is why it’s so special to read about people’s experiences in the guestbook.
We hope to see some of you at his final upcoming concerts:-

Read Universal's press release.
Information Courtesy of David Mendenhall
According to Billboard back in 1994 - BIA was ranked the #22 selling LP of the Seventies.
It was on the top 200 chart for 88 weeks, 48 of them in the top 40, 26 of them in the top 10, and of course 6 of them at #1Logical Song went to #6
Logical Song was heard by Paul McCartney who claimed it as one of his favorite songs at the time in Rolling Stone Magazine.
"Goodbye Stranger" came out and was their first successful second single from an LP making it to #15.
"Take The Long Way Home" went to #10 making the dominance of the LP complete, and being named the number 1 seller in Variety Magazine for 1979.
The LP was number 1 in the USA for 6 weeks
The release date of the LP March 29, 1979 - 11 days later it would turn "Gold."
The mastering disc of "BIA" is the only instance where Roger is credited with his own songs, and Rick his own songs.
A good story about the cover, including a sketch before the LP cover was even shot ( this sketch is already at www.myspace.com/supertramparchive.
The woman on the cover "Kate Murtaugh" was paid $2,500 to promote the group at the NARM Convention in Miami.
Designers of the cover, Mike Doud and Mick Haggerty each won a grammy for the design of BIA

100 copies of BIA can be found on clear vinyl, and were made by Mismanagement, and are very rare.

We have a very special announcement!
Roger is auditioning professional musicians to join him at times on the road. Roger sometimes plays with a band, sometimes solo, and sometimes with an orchestra. If you really love the music Roger composed and wrote for Supertramp and after Supertramp, and you have an affinity for his music, please send an MP3 or video, and send your resume, training and experience, and what you feel your strengths are to info@RogerHodgson.com
This is a rare opportunity. For now Roger will only be choosing two musicians a drummer and bass player. There may be more in the future..
It is also a great learning opportunity as Roger has a gift of being able to mentor and teach certain musicians that have been working with him - to help bring out more of their musical abilities. (Isn't that right, Aaron? You didn't know you could play so many instruments before!)

Best of Bluesfest 21st Anniversary - sideshows announced!
Roger Hodgson from Supertramp and special guests 10cc
November 06, 2009 – What an extraordinary treat this is for lovers of the finest classic pop and rock ever made! Roger Hodgson from Supertramp and 10cc will together perform on a double bill at theatre sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne. Both bands are in Australia for Bluesfest’s much anticipated 21st Anniversary festival held in Byron Bay over Easter 2010.
ROGER HODGSON FROM SUPERTRAMP
“The highest compliment that Roger can be paid is that he probably sounds better live today than in the recording studio more than a generation ago.”
Evening Standard – London, Review from Royal Albert Concert.
Roger Hodgson is recognised as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists of our time! As the legendary voice, writer and arranger of most of Supertramp’s greatest hits that led to more than 60 million record sales, he gave us amazingly enduring songs like: “Give a Little Bit,” “Dreamer,” “It's Raining Again”, “Take the Long Way Home”, “The Logical Song,” “Breakfast In America,” “Fool’s
Overture” and so many others that have become the sound track of our lives. Hodgson co-founded the progressive rock band Supertramp in 1969 and was with them for 14 years. He wrote and sang most of the classic hits that brought Supertramp worldwide acclaim. Roger recently received 2 awards from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) for his songs being in the top played songs in their repertory, proving that they have indeed stood the test of time.
“There are few vocalists instantly recognizable from the first few bars of a song but Roger Hodgson is certainly one of that unique group. The singer/songwriter of Supertramp, his voice is as unmistakable as the distinct keyboard sound of his early hits.”
The Times- London, Review from Royal Albert Concert

10cc
You don’t get much more “classic” than this! 10cc may well be described as a tongue-in-cheek British art-pop band that found international success in the 1970s, but that’s just part of the story. With 26 million albums sold, and perennial hits like “Donna,” “I'm Not in Love," “Rubber Bullets,” and "The Things We Do for Love,” it soon becomes clear that 10cc are one of Britain's most original and innovative pop and rock bands. Noted for their studio polish, advanced musicianship, impeccable vocal performances, and clever lyrics that contributed to a style later dubbed "art pop," 10cc first became successful for their classic singles that often parodied classic rock styles or satirised modern life. The band's original incarnation—a quartet comprised of Mancunians Lol Crème, Kevin Godley, Eric Stewart, and Graham Gouldman—10cc earned critical respect and public acclaim for many of their singles which showcased the band members' talents as
pop musicians, singers, and songwriters while incorporating studio techniques and instrumental virtuosity more commonly associated with the English progressive art-rock bands of the same era. The current line-up includes long time members Graham Gouldman, Rick Fenn and Paul Burgess, joined by Mick Wilson and Mike Stevens. Bluesfest is extremely proud to present 10cc for the first time.

Cupid's Chokehold/Breakfast in America
The Rap group 'Gym class Heroes' has implemented the lyrics of 'Breakfast
in America' in their song: 'Cupid's Chokehold/Breakfast in America'.
Roger wrote this song when he was just 17, before he
joined Supertramp. "Breakfast in America" was the title track of
Supertramp's biggest album that topped the charts worldwide for a year in
1979 and sold over 18 million copies.
Excerpt from Press Release on April 23, 2007 from Atlantic Records:
"...The track -- which was originally written by Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies of Supertramp...stands tall at #1 on the CHR/Top 40 national airplay chart for an astonishing fourth consecutive week.
"...With a total audience at 85 million, the track is also #1 in audience at the CHR/Top 40 format. What's more, 'Cupid's Chokehold / Breakfast in America' remains firmly ensconced in the top 10 of Billboard's 'Hot 100' for the tenth consecutive week, and has proven to be a cross-over hit, jumping into the top 25 of both the CHR/Rhythmic and Hot AC charts.
"...'Cupid's Chokehold / Breakfast in America'...has also blown up online, reaching #1 on Billboard's 'Hot Digital Tracks,' as well as #2 on the 'Hot Digital Songs' chart. In addition, the song has proven a massive ringtone smash, recently reaching the top 5 on the weekly Ringscan ranking.
"...The lyrics and catchy melody of 'Cupid's Chokehold / Breakfast in America' were originally written and composed by Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies of famed rock group Supertramp. 'Breakfast in America' was the title track of Supertramp's biggest album, which topped the charts for a year in 1979 and sold over 18 million copies. Hodgson has been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters, and lyricists of our time. His timeless hit songs continue to find their way into the hearts of more than three generations around the world and are currently reaching a new audience with the Gym Class Heroes' remake of the classic song. In March Roger was honored for his song Give A Little Bit at the 23rd Annual ASCAP awards in Los Angeles. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers gave the award in acknowledgment of the song being one of the 50 most played songs of 2005. Roger has long been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, song writers and lyricists of his day, his trademark way of setting introspective lyrics to upbeat melodies striking a chord in cultures around the world. Just last year, Roger received over 80 requests for Give A Little Bit for use in TV, movies and to support many charities and fund raising efforts. For Roger as a songwriter, receiving this award for a song he wrote over 35 years ago was very touching, proving that his music is still so well loved and his songs and his message are timeless.

Roger and Supertramp just received a gold album for the most recent Supertramp anthology, Retrospectacle for selling over half a million copies so far in the UK. The Retrospectacle spans the 37 years of Supertramp’s existence, including the first 14 when Roger was in the band and the 23 years since he left. Out of the 32 songs in the collection, Roger was part of recording 27 of them, and worked with the band in some form on 4 of the remaining 5 tracks before leaving Supertramp. With only one song on the anthology being without Roger’s involvement, it is clear how much the spirit and magic of Supertramp is part of Roger’s musical legacy.
